Autocracy #8 Synopsis
Autocracy #8 Review
Review Submitted By: Tim Formas
With five issues left to go in a twelve-issue series, one should generally expect the storyline to transition to the climax build-up. Autocracy #8 is the turning point, changing the name of the game in several large ways.
Autocracy #7 featured Megatron attacking Zeta Prime, following Zeta’s attempt to steal energy from the inhabitants of Nyon with his weapon before Hot Rod makes the tough choice to detonate the city. After Zeta Prime’s escape from the battle due to weapon overload, Megatron’s and Orion Pax’s forces agree to an alliance to take down Zeta Prime. Autocracy #8 presents the outcome of the alliance as Orion Pax and Megatron face a showdown with Zeta Prime.
Co-writers Chris Metzen and Flint Dille do not hold back in this issue, delivering not one but two stunning moments. While readers figured one of these moments would happen eventually, it seems to come a little sooner than expected. The battle, in both writing and art, carries a brutal tone as the outcome changes the course of the rest of this series and of Cybertron itself. Given the two stunning moments, the silent final panel of the issue is perfect. Based on the events of the issue, it’s both creepy and exhilarating.
With the tone of this issue being so dark and gritty, Livio Ramondelli’s art shines in this issue. Unfortunately, I can’t say too much more about specific details without spoiling the story!
