Autocracy #11 Synopsis
Autocracy #11 Review
Review Submitted By: Tim Formas
As we hit the penultimate issue of Autocracy, the stakes are raised and we prepared for the final battle. As far as anything penultimate goes, Autocracy doesn’t disappoint.
In Autocracy #10, Hot Rod finally took a side in the battle. Following the decision, Orion Pax’s crew and a handful of Wreckers head to Nyon on a whim. Therefore, they find Orion Pax who then reveals that he has found the Matrix of Leadership and is now Optimus Prime. As the issue ends, Optimus calls for Metroplex to arise from the ruins of Nyon. As Autocracy #11 begins, Optimus rallies Metroplex to the cause. Following his conversation with Metroplex, he pleads to a communication expert for assistance in rallying Cybertronians to the battle against Megatron.
Co-writers Chris Metzen and Flint Dille continue to knock it out of the park. Writing style is top notch. The storytelling during panel transition for the “call to Cybertronians” was perfect and emotional. Having the call transition between different locations on the planet allowed the writers to feature cameos of many popular Autobots. The onset of the final battle is also emotional as well, as the success of Optimus’ call for help is answered. For only having a few pages to do so, the start of the final battle had several facets written in. The writing is enhanced by Livio Ramondelli’s art, which continues to convey the tone of the story quite well. Livio did a fantastic job capturing the emotion of the moments both during Optimus call for help as well as the final battle. His depiction of the Autobot crowd illustrates one of several spectacular moments for Livio in this issue.
The worst part about the Autocracy mini-series at this point is that we know it’s coming to an end after one more issue. Nonetheless, the writers have presented us a story thus far that have kept us captivated and wanting more. We’ll get one more bite in a few weeks, as we eager anticipate the conclusion of Optimus’ rise to leadership. Beyond that, we hold out hope for continuation of this story in future mini-series.
